Under recently changed athletic rules, an athlete is instantly disqualified if they leave the blocks before the starting gun sounds. Bolt immediately knew he had false started and took his shirt off in frustration knowing he was about to be disqualified.
Fellow Jamaican Yohan Blake went on to take the title in 9.92 seconds ahead of Walter Dix 10.08 and Kim Collins 10.09.

César Moreno Bravo, a Council Member of the IAAF, has just announced that by a very clear majority, the IAAF Congress voted in favour of recovering Rule 141, the age of master athletes, as it was before the Berlin Congress.

All masters start at age 35 and not age 40. The presence in the audience of members of the IAAF Masters Committee proved to be very important to the vote.

Stan Perkins, the president of the WMA, along with Brian Keaveney, the VP of Non-Stadia, applaud the decision and thank César Moreno Bravo and the Masters IAAF Committee for their suppo"

Speed training for veterans: how to combat the decline of speed and power: Drills, training methods and advice that will improve your sprinting irrespective of age:
Hill train to improve foot-strike, stride length and running technique

Two crucial factors affecting speed decline in the older sprinter are reduced stride length and an increase in the time the foot stays in contact with the ground. Hill sprints can off-set these negatives.

Here’s how: Let’s consider the action of the foot and ankle on foot strike and how this contributes to pushing the sprinter forward at maximum velocity. Running up a slight slope will emphasis a greater toe-up foot position (this is known as dorsiflexion) on foot strike.

NIGERIA ATHLETICS VETERANS/MASTERS

We the executive board members of the Nigeria Athletics Masters are working hard to make the masters a reality by our affiliation to the Africa and World Masters and organising the 1st All Nigeria Veteran/Masters Championship next year for retired but not tired ex-athletes.
We also want to attend the World Masters Indoor Championship in Javyskyla,Finland in April 2012.Also be part of the A.F.N Golden League.
The board has been meeting to move the body to greater height as expected from the Africa and World bodies,we are now on sponsorship drive to organise the championship.So we need the help of everyone towards making it a success.So all members should be dusting their spikes and throwing shoes for next year.Sure going to be great fun.
