I.A.A.F AWARDS


IAAF- IAF Centenary Presentations (25.11.2012)

IAAF_2012_IThe IAF athletes presentations awards with the Foundations Honorary President HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAF & IAAF President Lamine Diack, was made at the Centenary press conference on the 23rd November and proudly the WMA best masters were presented on stage with all the other athletes showing the world that athletics is one family.
The presentation started with the WMA Best Masters award, Female and Male, Lyn Ventris (AUS) and Bob Lida (USA). The best media journalist award, Elias Makori (KEN). The coaching lifetime award, Glenn Mills (JAM). The female and male rising star award, Antonique Strachan (BAH), Kershorn Walcott (TRI). The inspirational award, Aries Merritt (USA). The female and male performance award, USA Olympic 4x100m team, and David Rudisha (KEN). Finally the female and male awards, Allyson Felix (USA) and Usain Bolt (JAM) which were presented by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAAF President Lamine Diack.
All the other awards were presented by members of the IAAF Council or previous Olympic winners (full listing on the IAAF website). This was the most prestigious position ever for WMA Best Master, in moving from the position of having the presentation in a corner of the galleries onto to the stage with all the other stars. What a great day for Lyn and Bob, and a great thank you to the IAF and all those involved with the Centenary arrangements, and the wonderful dinner given to the athletes and guests on the evening of the 23rd where the best masters were able to mix and mingle with many of the stars from the past.

CONGRATULATIONS

StanThe South American Regional Masters Track and Field Cham- pionships have now been successfully concluded in the city of Arequipa, Peru. Congratulations to the athletes, officials, volunteers and sporting administrators who collectively contributed to a very friendly, enjoyable and inspiring week of competition, meetings and social gatherings. The happiness and smiles that were evident amongst all of the participants displayed the true spirit of Masters athletics and especially the latin american vibe that pulsates in this Region of the world. ASUDAVE must be proud of their achievement and WMA salutes their achievement. Well done to all.

Gracias Arequipa, bienvenido Medellin (19.11.2012)

Stan_Jorge_IIThe 16th South American Championships Masters are history. Excellent performances and a fantastic atmosphere characterised these championships. The flag of ASUDAVE was handed over to the LOC of Medellin (COL), the hosting city of the 17th South American Championships in 2014.
WMA President Stan Perkins (r.) thanked Jorge Luis Manrique Pajares, President of the South American Masters Association, and the organisers of Arequipa for seven exciting and successful days of masters athletics.

Welcome to the new updates from Porto Alegre (POA) LOC on the organisation of the 20thWMA Championships Stadia (WMACS), October 2013.
The POA Organisation Committee has been working hard with the municipality to put into action the work for the upgrades on the various facilities for the 20th WMA Championships. There has been a lot of background work done for officials, equipment, transport and general organisational matter in corporation with the WMA Secretary and other members of WMA, the services of Mr Alan Bell (GB/NI) will also be utilised for the championships.
The update to the main stadium CETE has continued and the work on ESEF will start early in the new year. The LOC will move into new offices in January 2013 and will have some dedicated members to work on communication to the athletics community.
