IAAF- IAF Centenary Presentations (25.11.2012)
The presentation started with the WMA Best Masters award, Female and Male, Lyn Ventris (AUS) and Bob Lida (USA). The best media journalist award, Elias Makori (KEN). The coaching lifetime award, Glenn Mills (JAM). The female and male rising star award, Antonique Strachan (BAH), Kershorn Walcott (TRI). The inspirational award, Aries Merritt (USA). The female and male performance award, USA Olympic 4x100m team, and David Rudisha (KEN). Finally the female and male awards, Allyson Felix (USA) and Usain Bolt (JAM) which were presented by HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco and IAAF President Lamine Diack.
All the other awards were presented by members of the IAAF Council or previous Olympic winners (full listing on the IAAF website). This was the most prestigious position ever for WMA Best Master, in moving from the position of having the presentation in a corner of the galleries onto to the stage with all the other stars. What a great day for Lyn and Bob, and a great thank you to the IAF and all those involved with the Centenary arrangements, and the wonderful dinner given to the athletes and guests on the evening of the 23rd where the best masters were able to mix and mingle with many of the stars from the past.
